Does life make us nihilistic?

I know.
It seems like a really serious topic - and it actually is.
But first we should give some definition what Nihilism is all about.
I am sure most of you do know. Lets ask wiki what she thinks about it though! :)

Nihilism

  • Philosophical doctrine suggesting the negation of one or more putatively meaningfulaspects of life.
  • Mostly nihilism is presented in the form of existential nihilism - argues that life is without objective meaning, purpose, or value.
  • Moral nihilists - morality does not exist, any established moral values are abstractly contrived.
  • In some aspect, knowledge is not possible, or that reality does not actually exist.

The term is sometimes used in association with anomie to explain the general mood of despair at a perceived pointlessness of existence that one may develop upon realising there are no necessary norms, rules, or laws.

Now when we were all introduced lets move to the discussion.
(well, monologue more likely)
I am sure every single one of you felt this way at least once in their lifetime.
Nothing has any meaning at all, everything is pointless, why even try again.
But is our modern life making us even more nihilistic?
Do you feel more without control over our lives?
Are nihilists right? And can we change someone who is nihilist into a happy person?

Todays world is hard to handle.
You can always feel the failure - and it does not have to be your fault. Not always.
You finish the school, get the degree/master/whatever. But what afterwards?
Who will give you a job when you have no experience?
Or are you over fifty? Who will give you a job when you are too old for them (probably can not understand computers) and they can choose for 100 other people who are younger than you?
It really feels pointless to even try, does not it?
How can you be happy when your only aspiration is to work in a factory like a robot for a funny low income?
How helpless you feel when you have no choice because you have to keep your family alive - or at least yourself?
Where is human dignity? How can you keep it when you have to do things you really would like to avoid?
The best thing is to try not to care. It will not make you depressed if you do not think about it too much.
But when you stop thinking what makes you different compared to any other animals?
And when you go on this route where is a border between not caring and becoming a nihilist?
I am sure it is just around a corner.
It might calm you down, knowing there is nothing that would matter anymore.
It might calm you down but you do not want to be a sheep.
You want to have a purpose in life.
You want to achieve things.
So, what can you do about this state of mind that is trying to save you from pain by turning off all the feelings when realizing that it does not matter anyway?
And is this world really real?

Can you tell that nihilists are not right?
Do you feel it is the truth when you say they are wrong?
No, there is something deeper in you telling you they must be right.
But you would not admit it because nihilists must be really depressed people that just think that they do not care. And they care way too much, in fact. This might be truth, who knows. Maybe there are some fake nihilists that are just playing it.
But everyone questions the society from time to time.
Everyone feels hopeless and without a reason to live from time to time.
Everyone knows that things we know might not be truth at all.
Everyone sees on TV that there are lots of people that would just ignore all the rules and do whatever they want anyway.
How can you feel different than nihilist when you know that in fact they might be right?
And they are actually living more "happy" life because they know there is no point in being sad?

After all heartbreaks, after all failures, when your dreams fall apart ...
Is not it better just to forget them all and just realize it really does not matter at all?
What do you think?
Are you nihilist?
Is any part of your brain nihilistic?
Or are you totally against this whole philosophy?
(maybe we are just spoiled, kids!)
